The months of April and May have abundant inspiration for creative observation of the emerging scenes in nature. This abstract design was derived from the leaf and flower budding of branches of the Hickory tree.

Iris is the Greek word for a rainbow alluding to the many colors found in this plant family. This abstracted painterly rendering of a beautiful purple and white Bearded Iris seems like an angelic apparition taking flight on airy wings.

The parts of the reed's plume are beautifully visible while the soft muted tones serve as a gentle background to this prairie grass plume that is forming its September seeds.
Various tones of blue and and blue-green in both the soft background and the reeds themselves create a magical landscape for the solitary plume.

I whipped up this gorgeous soft blue Gerbera daisy (Gerbera jamesonii) straight from my photo. Can you believe how perfect these flowers are for summer? I love them. They're like a ray of sunshine in any room or garden. These little guys originally hail from South Africa and come in all shapes and sizes. You can expect them to grow up to 2 feet tall with flowers ranging from 2 to 5 inches across. But the best part, Gerbers are the ultimate symbols of beauty, appreciation, and pure joy for the gift of life. With their vibrant and playful colours, it's impossible not to feel a little bit happier just being around them. So green thumb or not, let's celebrate life with some Gerber daisies, shall we.
